Cardiothoracic Surgeon, James Wudel, MD, Joins Platte Valley Medical Clinic
Dr. Wudel
James Wudel, MD, has joined the medical staff of Platte Valley Medical Clinic and Kearney Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Wudel received his bachelor's degree from the University of South Dakota. He then went on to complete his medical degree at Emory University of Medical School, internship and residency in general surgery at Vanderbilt University, and residencies in cardiac and thoracic surgery at the University of California-San Francisco and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
He is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
During his career, Dr. Wudel helped found the Nebraska Heart Institute and served as its Surgical and Medical Director. Recently, Dr. Wudel has been a Clinical Associate Professor at Sanford USD and is also in the process of completing his MBA from Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business.
Dr. Wudel specializes in multi-arterial coronary artery bypass, heart valve repair, Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) and repair therapies, minimally invasive surgery for atrial fibrillation and Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion (LAAO), and evolving transcatheter therapies for heart failure. He is excited to bring his expertise to patients in Kearney and the surrounding area.
In his free time, Dr. Wudel enjoys exercising, trying new healthy, plant-based recipes, and spending time with his family.
