F.A.S.T. Action Saved Bailey's Life
Bailey and Dr. Budler
Bailey Novak woke up suddenly at night and couldn’t move. At only 38, she thought, 'What is happening? I think I'm having a stroke, but this couldn’t be happening to me!'
Luckily, she recognized the signs:
- Face drooping
- Arm weakness
- Speech difficulty
- Time to call 911
Those quick actions and the advanced stroke care at Bryan Medical Center changed her life. She was transported to Bryan East Campus where Dr. Michael Budler, an interventional radiologist, performed an emergency thrombectomy to remove as much clot from her brain as possible. The procedure was successful. After three months of inpatient and outpatient rehab, she was well enough to return to work at Bryan as a cardiovascular services nurse. Her Bryan co-workers helped ease her back into her role and made sure she was in a position to succeed. Today, she is nearly fully recovered and is grateful to Dr. Budler and her colleagues at Bryan for caring for her during such a difficult time. Watch the full story below.
Bryan Medical Center is Lincoln’s only hospital offering a full range of stroke treatment options for life-saving care—including thrombectomy, a specialized, advanced treatment for stroke.
