Kearney Regional Medical Center Earns Third Consecutive Safety Score
For the third time in a row, Kearney Regional Medical Center has received a top score for patient safety.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other supplemental sources to produce a single letter grade for more than 3000 hospitals nationally. The goal of the report is to publicly identify safety and quality information for the benefit of consumers and referring physicians as they make decisions about where to seek care and direct patients.
For the Spring 2023 ratings, KRMC was one of only two hospitals in Nebraska to earn an ‘A’ rating. Of the other hospitals scored in Nebraska there were six ‘B’ ratings, eleven ‘C’ ratings and one ‘D’ rating, according to HospitalSafetyGrade.org.
Kearney Regional Medical Center was also the only facility in Nebraska to receive the ‘A’ rating in the previous reporting period.
Said Kearney Regional Medical Center CEO Bill Calhoun, “Receiving this ranking again for a third time represents our commitment to keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, who continuously strive to improve patient outcomes and deliver exceptional healthcare experiences.”
Employees at Kearney Regional Medical Center will celebrate this achievement and more next week during National Hospital Week. Activities will include food trucks, t-shirts, catered meals, puppy therapy, a play-around evening at the tennis center and more.
