KRMC Foundation Helps Create Clothing Closet

In the event of an emergency, time is of the essence. On occasion, the clothing of patients admitted to the Emergency Room (ER) at Kearney Regional Medical Center (KRMC) may need to be cut off in order to get critical medical equipment administered as quickly as possible. There are many other scenarios when clothing is soiled or dirtied and needing to be replaced for a patient.

Solving this need is where the newly-formed KRMC Foundation stepped in.

Thanks to last year's employee campaign, which raised $22,894, the KRMC Foundation was able to purchase needed clothing items and create a Clothing Closet in the KRMC ER. This clothing can be quickly located by KRMC staff and provided to patients in-need, providing them with dignity and comfort.

Scott Jochum, KRMC's Advancement Operations Specialist, expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the community's welfare through the clothing gift to the ER. He is thrilled about the positive impact that they'll have today and the unlimited potential and vision of their foundation. Together, they will continue to extend their support, warmth, and comfort to those in need.

Kevin Vickers, the Emergency Department manager, expressed his enthusiasm and gratitude, stating, “We are excited and grateful to be able to work with the foundation to address an essential need in our ER. Providing clothing to our patients when theirs are cut, soiled, missing, or dirty is the care and compassion provided to our patients. The foundation recognizes this and through their support we have a steady supply of clothing to assist our patients during their most vulnerable moments.”

Clothing was purchased at wholesale pricing thanks to KRMC’s long-standing partnership with Sayler Screenprinting. These garments not only ensure comfort, but also adhere to stringent infection control protocols required in a medical setting.

KRMC Volunteer Roxie Hinrichs also played a key part in bringing this project to life by organizing the new clothing provision system.
