Missy Bartels
Melissa Bartels will be the new chief nursing officer at Bryan Medical Center effective August 25, 2024.
“Missy will be a great addition to our Bryan Medical Center senior team,” said Eric Mooss, president and chief executive officer, Bryan Medical Center. “She has proven herself as an effective and passionate leader, developing outstanding caregivers and putting patients first in her decision-making.”
Bartels currently serves as the director of critical care services at Bryan Medical Center. She brings 20 years of nursing experience to the chief nursing officer position, with 10 of those in leadership roles at Bryan. She’s led numerous initiatives to improve quality, patient experience and provider and employee engagement. Bartels succeeds Lisa Vail, who remains chief nursing officer of the Bryan Health system.
“How meaningful to step into this role at such a pivotal time in Bryan Medical Center’s nearly 100-year history,” Bartels said. “Our nationally-recognized patient care teams, including providers are so committed to quality, safety and innovation. It’s an incredible honor to support them as we care for more and more Nebraskans.”
Bartels earned her master of nursing administration degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and her bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Her professional affiliations include the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL) and American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).
