Chris Balwanz, MD

The doctor acted like he really had no time for me during the meeting. He rushed through the questions and didn't allow me to ask all the questions I wanted. This is not the first time that he has done this to me. While I believe that I need to see the doctor it would be polite and respectful for the doctor to be able to actually meet with me without brushing me off as being so unimportant and act as if he is too important to actually talk with me. This doctor was Dr. Balwanz. The rest of the staff was just fine.

Always listens and answers any questions I have.

Dr Balwanz was really good and concerned when I first saw him but this time he just wasn't there. Barely listened to my heart, answered my one question and left. If you only see a Dr once a year, seems like he should do a little more.

Dr. Balwanz was kind, considerate. He took the time to explain my condition to me. He took the time to explain my options. He made me feel calm and like he was a partner for my care. I appreciate him very much.

We waited over an hour in the office before he finally came in and he was in such a hurry. He talked really fast. He didn't really listen to us. And in five minutes he was gone. And it just wasn't a very satisfactory appointment.

Dr. Balwanz is a great provider. He's caring and knowledgeable about my care. He always takes time and never has made me feel rushed.

Dr Balwanz is always up to date on my history and new tests and procedures. He is easy to talk to and listens closely.

I have confidence in Dr. Balwanz.

I had come in for an office visit after not scheduling one for a few years. My visit was not very personable and since I really had no reason to schedule the appointment other than to touch base again I feel it was not necessary and a waste of time and money on my part. I felt like I filled a time slot in the calendar for that day, that was it.

Discussing any heart issues can be a very daunting task. Dr Balwanz took the time to put my mind at ease and explain any issues I might have. Very comfortable in his care.

Dr. Balwanz is always pleasant and kind. He listens to my questions, and explains everything so that I understand.

Greatful for the auto vending service. The provider service is great. I have been coming here for years and will continue to come.

Prior to the visit, I had not seen the provider for 8 months. I learned nothing from the visit. I had visited with his nurse about some side-effects to some of my medications, and, with the approval of the provider, these were changed. In the visit the provider spent much of the time telling me that if I had any problems with side-effects to the medicine prescribed, I should take that up--not with him--but with my family physician. He offered to set up an appointment for that purpose with the family physician. I said I could do that. He did not use his stethoscope to listen to my heart. I had kept track of my blood pressure for the last month and a half. He looked at this briefly and gave it back. He said my blood pressure was too high, and he offered to increase my enalapril. I said we had just doubled the enalapril within the last couple of weeks, and it didn't seem to make a difference in the blood pressure readings. He said that if I didn't want to increase the enalapril at this point, that he didn't want me to call him in three weeks asking for more enalapril. I wanted to know how I was doing in terms of my atrial-fibrillation. We talked generally about this. He mentioned the possibility of an ekg--I said that I would like to have one. I was particularly interested in the status of my a-fib. He then ordered an ekg. It was done, and within about five minutes after its completion, his nurse appeared and told me that he had reviewed the results of the ekg, and I had a-fib. There was no further discussion of the results of the ekg. I learned nothing from this appointment.

The provider did not listen to my comments, the provider did not listen to me, the provider had a horrible bedside service, and the provider cut me off and didn't listen. And I felt like I wasn't being heard or my health care concerns were not being addressed properly.

The tech that performed my test really put me at ease

I've seen a lot of doctors, a lot of specialists over the years. Everytime I have to see a new one, all I feel is anxious and afraid I'll be railroaded and disregarded, as has been my experience in the past. This is experience was anything but. I was wonderfully suprised with how empathetic my doctor was, and how knowledgeable he was with my case before he came into the room, which is rare. I have nothing but great things to say about my experience.

It's always nice to see Dr. Balwanz on my twice yearly appointments. He is calm, informative, and reassuring. I'm happy to be working with him.

The nurse who was the first contact in the room spoke really quickly, looked at the screen vs any eye contact, seemed to read her questions without showing a communicative style. It was very different when Dr. Balwanz came. I felt he was a good listener and communicator.

He did not explain my condition very well and had no time to answer our questions. He said his nurse could answer our questions, as he's literally standings at the door with it open. Our primary care doctor explained much better at my next appointment with her. My wife saw a different cardiologist for the same condition at a later date and he explained things much more thoroughly and was very reassuring.

Demonstrated genuine interest in concerns I had. Very professional and understanding. Provided a comfortable and relaxing setting. Made sure he would be available if I had any questions or issues that may arise.
