My Approach to Care

My goal is to provide an environment in which patients feel safe and comfortable sharing both their concerns and aspirations. I believe that every patient has unique individual needs so I strive to care for the person as a whole, rather than individual symptoms. Getting to know my patients on a personal level and developing relationships with them allows me to provide care in which the patient feels heard and they are able to be active participants in their own treatment plan.

I believe mental health is an equally integral component of a person’s overall health and well-being. I strive to help my patients share this same sentiment through an individualized, supportive and evidence-based approach to care.

Areas of Expertise:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Background and Education:
I was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I then received my Master of Physician Assistant Studies Degree from Creighton University School of Medicine - Physician Assistant Program. As a Lincoln native, I am very grateful to be back home to help and serve patients in a place that helped raise me and holds a special place in my heart.

Stay away from this place. They don't listen or care about your problems

Well, I really don't know what to say. It was an okay experience. It wasn't too stressful or anything. I got along with Mr. Huy. I would recommend him to other people and that's about it.

For first time in long time I felt heard.... I have a history of drug abuse and have felt dismissed so many times before.... I have a mental mental heath condition that has undoubtedly contributed to my drug abuse.... But so many times before I have felt that the stigma of drug use has prevented me from receiving genuine consideration.... With Huy I didn't feel that way.... I didn't feel that he necessarily cared bout me personally but that's okay.... He is an extremely professional young man, and he definitely did not dismiss me as has been done before..... I appreciated that more than he could know..... and am looking forward to working with him in the future.....

As someone who has taken 2 decades to see a psychiatrist, anxiety was overwhelming. The front desk, in take nurse and PA were all very professional. My anxiety became less. It wasnt until the PA left the room to get the psychiatrist recommendation that the panic set in. Not only was I not meeting the doctor but he was about to prescribe anti-depressant and a mood stabilizer for me without actually meeting me. When the PA returned with the recommendations and I asked if this med is safe for someone with MCAS. They stated that if there is a reaction fever, rash, etc to go to the emergency room. That left both my husband and myself taken aback. When my husband went to put in the request to pick up the order he inquired with the pharmacist on duty if the med is safe for someone with MCAS. The pharmacist was surprised that a prescribing medical professional would prescribe meds to a patient that has to manage daily hives through medication. They were shocked and recommended that we speak to the physician or find someone who is actually going to prescribe you meds that will help and not make matters worse for the patient. This was not something a person who struggles with trusting medical professionals and has anxiety tied to their experience to feel. Mental health is serious but not every mental health patient wants to be medicated and numb and some patients actual habe current medical issues preventing them from medications. This type of process doesnt work and only hurts the progress I have done to be able to make an appointment and go to mental health professional. I guess thank you for reminding me that I need to find someone who fits me and not just settle with a person like this

Yes, I believe the provider is very knowledgeable as being, you know, just out of med school, and he listens and he wants to meet your needs. So I'm very happy with him, and I'm glad I changed from Dr. Warner. So Thank you.

We listened very well. He was very professional. And I walked out of the office feeling good about having me under his care. Yeah, I would recommend him. I definitely would.
