Advanced Directives

People usually make decisions about their health care treatment after their doctor recommends a course of treatment and provides information about the treatment. These decisions may become more difficult if patients become unable to tell doctors and loved ones what kind of health care treatment they want. Through documents, known as Advance Directives, people can express their treatment preference before they actually need certain kinds of care, ensuring their wishes will be carried out and that their families and others will not be faced with making difficult decisions.

When you arrive at Crete Area Medical Center, we will ask if you have an Advance Directive and provide written information to you. Please do not hesitate to contact the admitting office, social services or your doctor for more information.

Valuables

Please leave valuables including jewelry, larger amounts of cash and credit cards at home. We cannot be responsible for the loss of money or other valuables left in your room. If you do bring valuables, please request that they be stored in a safety deposit box when you are admitted.

Patient Safety

Latex-Safe Environment (no latex balloons)

For the safety of patients, visitors and staff, the medical center is latex safe. This means we have removed all items containing latex powder, and we cannot allow latex rubber balloons in any medical center building. If latex balloons are brought into one of our facilities, we will ask the visitor to return the balloons to their vehicle. Mylar balloons are acceptable.

Latex allergic reactions can range from moderate irritation and discomfort to life-threatening conditions. Being latex-safe helps prevent allergic reactions and the development of the allergy over time.
