The New Merrick Medical Center Campaign

Building on Excellence to Create Healthier Lives

Merrick Medical Center is embarking on an exciting transformational journey to create a completely new $27-million, 51,307-square-foot-facility. The design will fully integrate health and wellness, create a healthy environment that improves the patient experience and efficiency for staff, and ensures sustainable facility inspired by its natural surroundings.

The Lives You Touch

The overarching goal of Merrick Medical Center is to make healthy living easier to achieve for everyone in our community. Recent community donations have undoubtedly helped with that goal.

Here are some examples of how your donations made a difference:

• Three of our employees became certified lifestyle coaches, and have in turn launched a Shape My Health program which works to prevent the onset of Type 2 diabetes
• Tai Chi exercise classes are now offered in our community. The classes focus on balance and mobility
• Scholarships to continue education have been granted to current employees

Your donations led to increased offerings of health care focused events throughout our community including:

• Our Annual Ladies Night and Men's Night
• Health fairs at local businesses
• Trips to area elementary and preschools to talk about healthy food choices

Plus, equipment purchases to help us better serve our patients in these areas:

• Emergency Room
• Surgery Area
• Sports Medicine Clinic

The Thrift Shop

The Hospital Thrift Shop is located in downtown Central City. The store, which is run by nearly 100 Auxiliary volunteers, continues to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of area shoppers. Gently used donations of clothing, shoes, knick-knacks and household items are donated by the community, shown love by our Auxiliary staff and then put on display to be resold.

Through your donations and the work of Auxiliary volunteers, a monumental milestone was reached in 2023 of exceeding $2,000,000 in sales!

The Thrift Shop has continued over the years to fund huge projects for Medical Center, and is always ready and willing to step up when asked.

The bargains begin on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Shop with us Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Our mission is to provide Merrick Medical Center with supplemental income for capital, operating and program needs essential to its growth and development - and to serving you. The Foundation is dedicated to the support of the programs and projects that will expand and enhance health care, education and other health-related services throughout the area.
