Fluoroless or Low Radiation Techniques

Bryan Heart electrophysiologists are pioneers in an approach to help reduce or eliminate the amount of radiation (or fluoroscopy) used during electrophysiology procedures. Fluoroscopy is medical imaging that uses several X-rays pieced together to make a 'mini movie'. This  allows doctors to see your organs and soft tissues moving in real time. Fluoroscopy is a common test used for diagnostic purposes and visual guidance during a procedure.

Fluoroscopy is an important tool for medical providers, but there is a concern with using fluoroscopy because of radiation exposure. By using other imaging techniques, Bryan Heart electrophysiologists can reduce or completely eliminate the fluoroscopy used, which limits the potential exposure to radiation among patients, staff and doctors. Fluoroscopy is still needed in certain cases; however, if your case can be treated without excess exposure to X-rays, our Bryan Heart team will proceed with your safety top of mind.
