Heart & Vascular Screenings
Measure What Matters Most
Your heart health is an essential part to your overall health. It pumps blood throughout your body by way of your vascular system. It’s important to keep a pulse on both your heart and vascular health to make sure your body is getting the oxygen and nutrients it needs. Screenings are a simple, affordable and trusted way to measure if you are at risk for heart disease, stroke and other vascular issues.

Take Your HeartAware Screening
Coronary Calcium CT Scan, $125
A doctor's order is needed for this screening.
Find out if you have the beginnings of heart disease before the trouble begins with a coronary calcium CT scan. That way you can take steps to prevent a heart attack. Usually, heart disease (also known as coronary artery disease) is not discovered until a person develops symptoms such as chest pain or an abnormal response to a stress test, or has a heart attack or a sudden cardiac death occurs.
At Bryan Medical Center, our multi-slice CT scanner detects the presence of calcium in your coronary arteries. If calcium is found, the amount of calcification correlates to the level of heart disease and your risk of a heart attack. This technology allows us to detect the extent of heart disease before symptoms appear, so you can take steps to slow the progression of heart disease and prevent a life-threatening cardiac event. The special CT scanner at Bryan uses the lowest dose of radiation for this procedure.

Heart, Stroke and Vascular Screening Options
By appointment only. No doctor referral needed.
Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Screening, $20
If you have pain in your feet or legs, you may be experiencing PAD. PAD is a condition where the large and medium arteries supplying blood to your legs become narrow or clogged with plaque. This restricts blood flow and leads to pain. If you have diabetes or smoke, you’re at an increased risk of developing PAD.
To find out if you have PAD, take a simple screening.
This screening is available to anyone age 65 and older OR for people age 55-64 who have risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes or other health conditions; this will be reviewed when your appointment is scheduled.

Abdominal Aortic Ultrasound Screening, $40
Four-hour fast required in advance of screening.
The abdominal aorta is the largest vessel in your body. It spans from your heart through the center of your chest down to your abdomen, and it supplies blood throughout your body. Aneurysms can develop along the aorta and can be life-threatening.
If you have a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) or high blood pressure you may be at risk. Find out with a simple, painless ultrasound screening.
This screening is available to anyone age 65 and older OR for people age 55-64 who have risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes or other health conditions; this will be reviewed when your appointment is scheduled.

Carotid Artery Ultrasound Screening, $40
Your carotid arteries are two large blood vessels that supply oxygen to the brain. If your arteries harden or become blocked with plaque, a decrease in blood flow can increase your risk for stroke. Carotid artery disease has few to no symptoms. That’s why early detection is key.
The carotid artery ultrasound screening is a simple, painless way to see inside your arteries to identify if you’re at risk for stroke.
This screening is available to anyone age 65 and over OR for people age 55-64 who have risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes or other health conditions; this will be reviewed when your appointment is scheduled.

Bicuspid Aortic Valve (BAV) Screening, $90
To be eligible, you must have an immediate family member with a history of BAV.
BAV is a common congenital heart disorder that happens at birth. It can be hereditary. If an immediate family member has BAV, it’s important to be screened. During this screening an ultrasound (echocardiogram) of your heart will detect if you have BAV.
