Bryan Health offers enhanced text messaging to make sure you're informed of upcoming appointments and other important information regarding your care. You can reschedule appointments, pay bills and much more.

To receive and correspond with Bryan Health through text messaging you do not need to have a MyChart account. However, with MyChart, you'll have the option to receive more information via text, such as test results including MRI or X-Ray. We highly recommend a MyChart account.

How do I opt in to receive text messages from Bryan Health?

If I opt in to receive text messages, when will I begin receiving appointment reminders?

Once you opt in, you will begin receiving text reminders for any appointments scheduled more than three days after you signed up. Patients who schedule their appointment more than 30 days in advance of their appointment will receive text messages at the following intervals:

  • 30 days in advance
  • Seven days in advance with the opportunity to complete eCheck-in information to save time on the day of your appointment
  • Three days in advance of your schedule appointment

Example: If you sign up today to receive text messaging and you have an appointment tomorrow, you will not receive a text message reminder. If your appointment is four days out, you will receive a text message.

I opted in to text messages, but am not receiving them. Who can I contact for help?

Please contact your clinic. Our staff can check to make sure we have your correct phone number and assist you with resolving the issue. You can also log in to MyChart and check your patient information to make sure your correct mobile phone number is listed.

How do I receive text messages for family members such as my child, or someone for whom I help coordinate care?

If you have a MyChart account and have proxy access to a person’s health information, you also will receive appointment, bill pay and other text messages regarding their care. You can request proxy access for another individual here.

Does it cost money to receive and send text messages to Bryan Health?

Standard text messaging and carrier rates apply. Bryan Health will not charge you for text messaging.

Will my phone number be shared or sold?

No. Per HIPAA and federal regulation, your personal information is kept confidential for patient care.

If I currently have the MyChart app and receive push notification about my care, will I still receive text messages?

You have the ability to adjust your communication preferences at any time to determine what you receive from text messaging and the MyChart app. You can view and personalize your communication preferences in your Account Settings in MyChart.


Appointment Reminders, Rescheduling Appointments and Cancelling Appointments by Text Messaging

How soon before my appointment can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

You may reschedule or cancel your appointment up to 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment. If you try to reschedule or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment, you will be asked to call the clinic instead. Please be mindful of your clinic's cancellation policy.

If I opt-in for text messages, will I also continue to receive phone call reminders?

No. You can choose to receive appointment reminders by text or phone, you will not receive both.

Can I text message my doctor or care team directly?

No. You can send your providers and nurses secure messages via MyChart or call your care team directly to ensure you receive the appropriate guidance. If you have an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. No clinical guidance or expertise can be evaluated by text messaging.


Payment Reminders and Bill Pay

How do I set-up automated bill pay through text messaging?

Patients with a credit card on file can make payments through text messaging. To add a credit card to your account, select the option to save your card for future use when completing an online payment in MyChart or mention that you’d like to place your card on file when paying in person.


Wait List

How do I get waitlist notification through text messaging?

Our outpatient clinics sometimes offer a waitlist for patients who would like an appointment on an earlier date than currently scheduled. If you would like an earlier appointment, you can contact your clinic to be added to the wait list or look for the option on the appointment information screen in MyChart. If an earlier appointment becomes available for the type of care you need, you will receive a text message with the offered appointment details and the option to accept or deny the date/time. You also may respond via text message to stop receiving texts about earlier appointments.


Opting Out of Text Messaging

How do I opt-out of receiving text messages?

You may opt-out of text messages one of three ways:

  1. At any time, you may text the word STOP to 24671
  2. If you have a MyChart account, you can update your communication preferences to stop text messages. You can change your communication preferences at any time if you decide to opt-in again.
  3. At your next appointment, you may ask your clinic registration staff to opt you out.
