Patient Safety
Your safety is our priority
Bryan Health has comprehensive safety and security practices to ensure to safety of our patients, visitors and staff. If you have questions about the following topics, please let us know.
Smoking
Bryan Health is a smoke-free environment. This supports our mission to improve health. Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside or outside the medical center buildings.
Latex-Safe Environment (no latex balloons)
For the safety of patients, visitors and staff, the medical center is latex safe. This means we have removed all items containing latex powder, and we cannot allow latex rubber balloons in any medical center building. If latex balloons are brought into one of our facilities, we will ask the visitor to return the balloons to their vehicle. Mylar balloons are acceptable.
Latex allergic reactions can range from moderate irritation and discomfort to life-threatening conditions. Being latex-safe helps prevent allergic reactions and the development of the allergy over time.
Valuables
Please leave valuables including jewelry, larger amounts of cash and credit cards at home. We cannot be responsible for the loss of money or other valuables left in your room. If you do bring valuables, please request that they be stored in a safety deposit box when you are admitted.

Security
Security guards are on duty 24 hours a day to help patients, visitors and staff. To contact security, dial "0" from within the hospital, or call 402-481-1111 from outside the hospital.
Fire Safety
Fire drills help keep staff prepared for emergencies. During the drills or a potential fire, you may hear a bell ringing and see strobe lights flashing. Your nurse will tell you what you need to do during this time, until the 'all clear' announcement is made.
To ensure fire safety, our facilities department should inspect all personal electric equipment that is brought to the medical center before it is used. Your nurse can coordinate this inspection.
