Healing Arts and Connections

Supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of those affected by cancer

At the April Sampson Cancer Center, we believe healing goes beyond traditional medical treatments. Cancer affects not only the body but also the mind and spirit. Many patients experience anxiety, depression, and isolation during their treatment journey. Research shows that integrative therapies, such as art, mindfulness and music, can significantly reduce stress, improve emotional resilience and enhance overall quality of life.

Explore therapeutic experiences that promote healing and well-being:

Art Therapy

Engage in a supportive, creative environment designed to help relieve stress and process emotions through art. No experience is required; all materials are provided. Led by local artists.

Register in advance – limited to 6 individuals per session.

Casting Through Cancer

Fly fishing has proven benefits for both mental and physical health. Join us to learn and experience these benefits for yourself. Volunteer community anglers from the Cornhusker Fly Fishers club will offer instruction on casting, while you spend time together in nature.

Sound Therapy

Uses vibrational sound healing to help promote calm and relaxation. Benefits can include improved sleep, less stress and anxiety, and pain relief. The sounds help your mind to slow down and the body to rest and heal.
