Joint Replacement Surgery

Joint replacement surgery is beneficial when joint pain prevents you from participating in your normal daily activities, such as walking, working and sleeping. We offer traditional and minimally invasive options for hip and knee joint replacement. This includes the very latest in replacement joints designed specifically for men or women.

Orthopedic surgeons at Bryan Medical Center have pioneered minimally invasive joint replacement procedures that make your recovery faster and less painful than with traditional surgery. In minimally invasive surgery, doctors use techniques and instruments to place the same clinically proven implants used in traditional surgery but with smaller incisions. These range from 2.5 to 3 inches, and are beneficial because they avoid cutting through muscles, tendons and ligaments, resulting in less trauma to your body. That said, even when a traditional approach to surgery is needed, doctors are making smaller incisions than before. Your doctor will discuss the surgery options and advise you on which is right for you.

Some of the things your doctor will consider:

  • Your age
  • Your weight
  • Your general overall health
  • Your body's physical structure
  • Your current activity level
