Frolic in the Park!
Lincoln Parks and Recreation offers many opportunities for physical activity. Choose anything from walking and running trails, biking trails, exercise stations – and classes such as yoga and boot camps. You also can sign up for sports such as soccer, swimming, basketball – and while you're at it, check out some other events, including art and music!
Other unique benefits of our parks services: these activities are often free or have nominal fees to join; they provide you with a great social outlet, meeting your neighbors or friends and getting in some fresh air, nature and sunlight. All of this is easily found in your neighborhood parks or other parks in our community.
Parks offer you a place to be active on your own, with your pet, with a friend(s), or even children or grandchildren. Studies have shown that children who engage in unstructured playtime outside play more creatively; have lower stress levels; have more active imaginations; become fitter and leaner; develop stronger immune systems and have greater respect for themselves, others and the environment.
Studies also show that those who spend more time out in nature have improved mental well being, less tension and depression, and more energy. After a winter of being indoors, take it outside! A new environment for fun and play with different activities can reinvigorate your exercise program and your commitment to exercise.
